But there IS a reason for this scene! It is to replace an origin story for the sentient tire. Stephen King gave us a killer car - why did the car kill? Not for "no reason" but because it was made by an evil man, and the evil seeped into the car, the way a bad food smell seeps into milk in a fridge. (Why was the man evil? No reason given, but at least the problem was moved over one step. And The Joker of Batman has at least two different origin stories. Most villains have origin stories because the author doesn't want to resort to "no reason." I admit that I cannot think of a plausible origin story for a single tire out in the desert to wake up! Wait a minute, why am I writing this comment ???

For all of you younglings dissing this version of Captain America, you have no idea what we had to put up with watching the two Captain America TV movies with Reb Brown as the lead character. You think this version is lame? Go check out the 70’s gems and witness a clear plastic shield.

There’s just really no way to pretend this is good, is there? I lived through this when it came out and I remember the terrible dawning suspicion that they were having me on. My whole family watched this together with dinner on trays as a special occasion.
